Service Description
This course is taught by both Ritomo and Mandy Amamiya. Lessons are 1 hour long and twice a week. Lessons will be conducted over Zoom on Thursdays and Sundays at 7pm Mountain Time. Mandy will teach the Monday lesson and Ritomo will teach the Friday lesson. (Mandy or Ritomo may substitute for each other as needed.) Zoom lessons will be recorded and posted for all students to see. This way, students may review previous classes or watch classes when they are unable to attend the live lesson. The pace of this course is medium. Students will need to complete homework and memorize vocabulary and letters between classes. Students should expect to spend around 2-4 hours each week on study. We will provide all materials needed for study. Course Outline: Week 1 - Introduction to the Japanese writing system - Begin learning the Hiragana alphabet system Week 2 - Finish learning the Hiragana alphabet system - Learn about long sounds and special letters Week 3 - Learn basic greetings in Japanese - Basic self-introductions - Learn to count to 100 Week 4 - 40 new vocabulary words - Learn how to construct basic sentences in Japanese - Learn the particle は - Learn how to create questions Week 5 - Telling the time in Japanese - Giving and taking phone numbers in Japanese - Particle の Week 6 - Counting ages - Counting grades - Talking about jobs - Talking about hobbies Week 7 - 50 new vocabulary words - Counting to 99, 999 - Asking and giving prices of things in Japanese Week 8 - This and that - Here and there - Asking where things are - Who's Week 9 - Particle も - Negating nouns. (Ex: I am NOT Japanese.) - Translation Project Week 10 - Learning Katakana alphabet system Week 11 - Learning how to order things from a variety of places Week 12 - Continuing to practice ordering things. And if finished with that, we will do something fun like: ○ Japanese Tongue Twisters ○ Japanglish words invented in Japan ○ A lesson about things in "Spirited Away" that foreigners might miss ○ Kanji for numbers. Skills Learned - We want you to be able to go out and use the skills you learn here in real life, so we place a strong emphasis on speaking and constructing sentences from nothing. You will of course learn Reading and Writing skills, but we will focus mostly on speaking and listening skills during class. Your reading and writing skills will mostly practiced through homework assignments. You will get feedback on your homework outside of class

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy: Full refunds will be issued for cancellations made up to 3 days before the start of the class. Cancellations made within 3 days of the start of the class will not be eligible for a refund. Please note that missed classes will not be made up, but recordings of the classes will be made available to those who were unable to attend. In the event of a class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as power outages or illness, the instructor will work with students to reschedule the class at a mutually convenient time.
