Beginner Japanese: Level 2 (Europe)

11am Monday's and Friday's Mountain time. Please confirm your time zone works for you before booking. Mandy will teach Mondays, Ritomo will teach Fridays. Please ensure that you have learned all of the learning points in Level 1 before enrolling in this class. Learners who either took the Level 1 course OR learners who did NOT take the Level 1 course but are already comfortable with all of the material in Level 1 may enroll in this class. (This class will go through chapters 3, 4 and 5 of the Genki Textbook) This class is created for adults who have busy lives. The learning pace of this class is medium. You can expect to spend 1-2 hours on homework after each class, as well as some time memorizing vocabulary and Kanji. All learning materials will be provided. All lessons will be recorded so if you miss a lesson, you can still watch it later. This is what we will learn in Level 2. Week One: - New Vocabulary (verbs, everyday life, prepositions) - Learn about verb formality. Learn the categories of verbs and how to change them from casual to formal Week Two: - Learn about particle を and sentence construction - Learn about particles で、に and sentence order - Begin making small talk about things you do in your everyday life Week Three: - Continue practicing sentences about daily life, short conversations. - Learn how to invite people to do things, and how to accept or refuse invitations. - Learn about adverbs of frequency in Japanese and talk about how often you do things. Week Four: - Review of concepts learned so far/ translation project/ writing project - Kanji Review Week Five: - New Vocab - Using the word "Exist" in many contexts Week Six: - Talking about schedules - Using prepositions to describe location Week Seven: - Past tense in Japanese/answering questions naturally in Japanese - Write a diary in Japanese Week Eight: - Revisiting particle も - Duration of time/review - Learn new kanji Week Nine: - Kanji reading practice - New Vocabulary - Positive and Negative Adjectives Week 10 - Past Tense Adjectives - Likes and Dislikes Week 11 -Making suggestions - counting months, days of the month Week 12 - New Kanji - Kanji reading practice - Translation Project - Lets have a conversation
Cancellation Policy: Full refunds will be issued for cancellations made up to 3 days before the start of the class. Cancellations made within 3 days of the start of the class will not be eligible for a refund. Please note that missed classes will not be made up, but recordings of the classes will be made available to those who were unable to attend. In the event of a class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, such as power outages or illness, the instructor will work with students to reschedule the class at a mutually convenient time.
